Composition, content of bioactive compounds, and antioxidant activity of fruit pulps from the Brazilian Amazon biome

“…The fruits and leaves of P. caimito are used in folk medicine in the treatment of coughs, bronchitis and diarrhoea [11]. Some studies report the pharmacological potential of this species, such as antioxidant activity [12] and inhibition of α-amylase and β-glucosidase enzymes, which are therapeutic targets in the search for new drugs for the treatment of diabetes [13].
