Abstract:Human FEN1 is a structure‐specific DNA nuclease involved in removing 5′ RNA primers of Okazaki fragments and in long‐patch base excision repair. Defects in FEN1 lead to increased genomic instability. Identification of DNA‐binding residues will further elucidate the molecular mechanisms behind genome instability initiation and facilitate cancer therapy linked to hFEN1 mutations. No crystal structure data is available of hFEN1 actively bound to DNA; however, a structure of an hFEN1 homolog, T4 phage RNase H in i… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
