Computer-assisted prediction of normal boiling points of pyrans and pyrroles

Abstract: Computer-assisted methods are applied to the development of predictive models for the normal boiling points of diverse sets of pyrans and pyrroles. The models developed employ molecular structure based parameters or descriptors to encode the features of the compounds which determine the boiling point. A set of 20 descriptors is identified that allows for the development of good quality models for the pyrans and for sets of furans, tetrahydrofurans (THFs), and thiophenes, which have been studied previously. A m… Show more

“…where NRI NH2 is the nucleophilic reactivity index 19 for the amine nitrogen (see Figure 1), HACA2 is the area-weighted surface charge of hydrogen-bond acceptor atoms, 26 and E LUMO is the energy of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital. Values for all melting-point descriptors are presented in Table 3.…”

“…Fractional PNSA (PNSA3/TMSA) or FNSA3 is one of the electrostatics charged partial surface area (CPSA) descriptors, and was invented by Jurs et al [25,26]. Definition of FNSA3 is atomic charge weighted partial negative surface area (PNSA) divided by total molecular surface area (TMSA) which has related features responsible for polar interactions between molecules.…”

“…The remaining three descriptors in the model are Charged Partial Surface Area (CPSA) type of descriptors [36,37] and they describe the charge distribution of the molecule. First of them is the inverse function of Partial Charged Surface Area for atom H ( H PCSA).…”
