Conceptualizing “COBieEvaluator”

Abstract: Purpose Until now, the usage and usability factors of construction operation building information exchange (COBie) datasheet has remained largely overlooked. This oversight may be the potential factor in the lower adoption rates as well as effective utilization of COBie datasheet in the architectural, engineering and construction – facilities management industry. Cobie Data drops as a concept has difficulty in adoption pertaining to lengthy process of data capturing with high reliance on manual inputs. Finding… Show more

“…The relationship between asset management and organizational performance has drawn considerable attention, as investment in asset management has expanded (Dennis et al, 2017;Maleti c et al, 2018;Nel and Jooste, 2016). Asset management is the entity responsible for all asset-related strategies, decisions and actions that are risk-based and related to the objectives of the firm (Kumar and Lin, 2020;Mehairjan, 2017;Srinivasan and Parlikad, 2017). Asset management is premised on the underlying principle of leadership value, assurance and alignment (Pragale et al, 2018;Tang et al, 2019;Woodhouse, 2019).…”

“…Regarding the MOE's (Ministry of Education) latest direction on augmenting digital capabilities into current teaching methods to create a more robust learning environment in a post-Covid- 19 Singapore, this AR/VR project aims to test and showcase the possibility of new technology such as 5G to accelerate the digital transformation in this area, with reference for other industries' adaptation in the near future. The project covers remote location access to illustrate real-time, interactive virtual learning across different locations, which will require a reliable and high-performance mobility ecosystem.…”

“…The smart facilities management leverages new-age advanced information technology and equipment to achieve smart building goals. Driven by the adoption of building information modeling (BIM), Internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), digital twin (DT), augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR)/mixed reality (MR), Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) and data analytics technologies, SFM is empowering owners and occupants with greater visibility, actionable insights, and cost-saving [16][17][18][19][20][21][22]. Most of these technologies require high bandwidth, low latency connection, and leverage cloud computing for better output.…”

“…In our previous work, a detailed COBie data drop process has been outlined. A typical data drop process requires verifying information requirements (such as COBie responsibility matrix, owner requirements), extracting IFC models from native BIM models from different trades such as architecture and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP), merging and verifying for consistency, updating missing information through documents (such as furniture, fixtures, and equipment manuals, specifications, test results, warranty certificates, service manuals and safety manuals) and verifying the dependency and links are maintained (Kumar and Teo, 2020). A COBie datasheet needs information outside the purview of BIM authoring software .…”

“…Nevertheless, for the successful integration of BIM to FM stage, the quality of data during the handover is the key issue. Kumar and Teo (2020) mentioned that there is a significant gap in the level of detail vs level of information as the project nears completion. Kasprzak and Dubler (2012) highlighted that data for FM handover is only created during the end stage of construction.…”
