Conductive polypyrrole composite films prepared using wet cast technique with a pyrrole-cellulose acetate solution

Abstract: Conductive polypyrrole‐cellulose acetate films were prepared from cellulose acetate (CA) solution of pyrrole (Py) using wet cast method. In the composite films, Py was used as a solvent for CA which was dissolved with different concentration. Then, to prepare PPy–CA composite film, the Py viscous solution of CA was cast on glass plate and immersed in FeCl3 aqueous solution. When the CA film was formed in the aqueous solution, the polymerized PPy particles having about 1 μm diameter were formed in composite fil… Show more

“…Conducting polymers like PPy and PAni have also been explored as conductive llers, especially with natural polymers, in order to overcome the poor processability of these conducting polymers as well as to impart conductivity to otherwise insulating polymers. “…Conversely, a relevant part of the current studies mainly focuses on the development of biocomposites including conducting phases in the form of a dispersing phase along with non-conducting matrices to improve the functional performance ( i.e. , mechanical properties) and biocompatibility of scaffolds [ 76 ]. The use of EAPs such as PPy and PANI in the form of conductive fillers allows us to overcome relevant shortcomings in terms of processability of non-polymeric conductive fillers ( i.e.…”

“…[ 3–5 ] The intrinsic conducting polymers (ICPs) are interesting material having π‐conjugated system in the polymeric chains. [ 6 ] Various such conjugated polymers available in the market are polyaniline(PANI), [ 7–10 ] polythiopene (PTH), [ 11 ] polyfuran (PFu), [ 12 ] poly(phenylenesulfide) (PPS), [ 13 ] poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiopene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS), [ 14 ] poly( p ‐phenylene) (PPP), [ 15 ] polycarbazole, [ 16 ] and PPy [ 17–25 ] provide their best applications such as chemical gas sensor, supercapacitors, wastewater treatment, and energy storage in the past as well as in the future due to their uniqueness in physical properties and electrically conductivity.
