“…The analysis of FTIR spectra has been carried out for poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (Liang and Kirimm 1956;Hannon et al 1969;Masetti et al 1973) and for PVDF (Tashiro and Kobayashi 1989;Day et al 1992). These studies have proven to be enormously useful to select the vibrations in order to interpret the molecular structure of P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer.…”

“…4 and 5 show, respectively, the FT-IR ATR and FT-Raman spectra of Nafion reference and [Nafion/(M x O y ) n ] composite films. Detailed analyses allowed us to reveal that vibrational spectra consist of absorption bands associated with: (a) CF regions in the ranges 1377-1130 and 792-509 cm −1 corresponding to fluorocarbon chain vibrations of hydrophobic PTFE-like domains of Nafion [17,[20][21][22], (b) the polyether side chain modes detected in the region 993-957 cm −1 [17,23,24], (c) the SO 3 H acid group vibrations [17,23,24] and (d) the vibrational modes of water species embedded in bulk [Nafion/(M x O y ) n ] materials [17,25]. The metal-ligand vibrations typical of bulk inorganic fillers were not revealed and studied because they were expected at wavenumbers lower than 500 cm −1 .…”
