Conservative Semi-Lagrangian Scheme Applied to One-Dimensional Shallow Water Equations

Abstract: (1996) and Sun and Yeh (1997) has been applied to one-dimensional shallow water equations in both rotational and irrotational systems. After obtaining numerical results, we employ variation formulations (Sun and Sun 2004) with minimum correction to adjust both total mass and total energy so that they are conserved. Therefore, the scheme produces accurate, positive-definite solutions while conserving both mass and total energy. Comparing among different resolutions, the improvement on total energy is significa… Show more

“…Meanwhile, merging may not create long filaments in the outer regions. We also confirm that where the Rossby radius of deformation (L D ) is comparable or smaller than the initial vortex core separation length scale, vortex merger is more likely to occur due to geostrophic adjustment (Rossby 1938;Gill 1982;Sun 2007). The Rossby number (Ro) affected the overall flow interaction speed speed when L D is fixed.…”

“…This resulted in a change of temperature, pressure, wind, cloud, and precipitation over that area. The disturbances caused by the dusts introduced a geostrophic adjustment and secondary circulations (Sun, 2007). Hence, the influence of the dust spreads from the polluted area.…”
