Aims: The study aimed to analyze the common, technical, economical, and marketing constraints faced by the cabbage farmers in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya (2019-2020). Study Design: Purposive random sampling was employed in this study. One District and two blocks were selected purposively on the basis of their highest contribution to the area and production of cabbage further villages and respondents were selected randomly. Place and Duration of Study: The study was conducted in the Mawrykneng and Mawkynrew blocks of East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. Five villages namely Umphyrnoi, Sohryngkhem, Rapleng, Tynroit and Tangsning were selected and 80 cabbage growers were selected for the study. The data was collected for the period of 2019-to 2020. Methodology: The Garette ranking technique was worked out to analyze the constraints. Results: The major economical constraints observed were high initial investment with the garette score of (77.95), followed by costly plant material (76.39). The major marketing constraints were high fluctuations in the market prices (63.22), and a lack of cooperative market (55.11). The top technical constraints were control of pests and diseases (53.35), water management (52.63), and the common constraints were lack of knowledge on the recommended package of practices (59.43) and labor problems (52.08). Concluding remarks: Adequate need-based training programs may enhance the production of cabbage and thereby increases the farm income. Proper marketing channels and infrastructural development will help the growers fetch remunerative price for their produce.

This study was conducted in the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh State with the aim of identifying the constraints faced by cole crop growers in cultivation, production, and marketing. The researchers utilized the Garrett ranking method to analyze the data obtained from the respondents. A random sampling technique was employed to select participants for the study, with two blocks being chosen to ensure meaningful findings. The survey encompassed ten communities and involved 120 farmers from selected villages. The data collected for this study spanned the years 2021-2022. To gather primary data, personal interviews were conducted with cole crop growers using a pretested questionnaire. The study revealed several significant production constraints faced by the farmers, including the non-availability of credit, a lack of knowledge about the latest production technology, inadequate access to quality water, insufficient government assistance, and poor quality land. Furthermore, the research also highlighted key marketing constraints, which included price fluctuations, a lack of scientific storage facilities, high transportation costs, limited local demand for the produce, and a lack of scientific knowledge and training among the growers. This study sheds light on the various challenges encountered by cole crop growers in the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The findings highlight the need for interventions to address these constraints in order to enhance cole crop cultivation, production, and marketing in the region. Effective measures such as improving credit accessibility, providing training on modern production techniques, ensuring the availability of quality water, supporting the establishment of scientific storage facilities, addressing transportation cost issues, and promoting market demand for the produce can contribute to the overall improvement of the cole crop sector in the area.

Constraints faced by the respondents in adoption of sugarcane production technologies

The present study was conducted with specific objectives to study knowledge and adoption of sugarcane production technology. For this study Latur district was selected and from Latur district two talukas viz., Chakur and Udgir were selected. From these two talukas twelve villages were selected randomly and ten respondents from each village were selected, i.e. 120 respondents from 12 villages constituted the sample for the study. Ex-Post Facto research design was used for the research study. The major constraints faced by respondents in adoption of sugarcane production technologies were lack of knowledge about the identification of insect and pest, lack of availability water and lack of knowledge about scientific plant protection measures. The majority of the respondents suggested that information should be provided about identification of insect and pests of sugarcane crop and their proper control measures, permanent water resources should be available i.e. farm pond and to provide the information about sett treatment.
