Construction and early commissioning results of the AGS booster

Abstract

The AGS Booster synchrotron has been design jd to accelerate protons from 200 MeV to 1.5 GeV and heavy ions from several MeV per nucleon to several hundred MeV per nucleon for all the nuclei up to gold. The design requirements and measurement results of major accelerator components and systems are presented. The early commissioning results of the injection is also presented.
