Content Caching and Channel Allocation in D2D-Assisted Wireless HetNets

Abstract: The fifth generation cellular networks are required to provide very fast and reliable communications while dealing with the increase of users traffic. In heterogeneous networks (HetNets) assisted with device-to-device (D2D) communications, traffic can be offloaded to small base stations or to users to make content delivery faster and alleviate the traffic burden from the core network. In this paper, we aim to maximize the probability of successfully delivering files to users, referred to as the successful deli… Show more

“…The proposed scheme achieved a higher sum rate and lower computational complexity. However, it needs a global CSI of all DUs at the BS, which imposes a huge overhead. Integer linear program (ILP) 116 : Jaafar et al 116 investigated caching and channel allocation for content delivery network in D2D assisted HetNets. The 5G‐based HetNets are incorporated due to its advantage to alleviate the traffic burden from the BS and to make the content delivery faster.…”

“…Consequently, power conservation and reduction in latency was achieved. In [8], the authors focused on joint optimization of data caching and channel allocation. The authors proposed a two-step heuristic scheme to perform channel allocation in the first stage and data caching in the second stage.…”
