Abstract:Most solution methods for mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) production scheduling models have been developed for batch processes. In this paper, we employ integer variables, referred to as record keeping variables (RKVs), into discrete-time continuous production scheduling MILP models that facilitate efficient branching and lead to substantial reductions in solution time. We first introduce different types of RKVs and determine which class of RKVs is the most effective. Second, we explore branching prior… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
