Abstract

The importance of considering psychosocial factors in travel behavior research has been acknowledged over the last years. These variables improve the understanding of the motivations that lead individuals to make decisions when travelling (e.g. transport mode, timing and place or with whom they share their trips). This thesis aims to contribute to travel behavior research through the analysis of the relationships between travel behavior, personal values, attitudes toward transport modes, perceptions of cyclist and pedestrian environments and characteristics of the subset of the social network composed by companions of trips and activities.
