Control of the workplace environment by physical factors and SMART monitoring

Abstract: Purpose: To develop and implementation in practice an algorithm for smart monitoring of workplace environmental physical factors for occupational health and safety (OSH) management. Design/methodology/approach: A brief conceptual analysis of existing approaches to workplace environmental physical factors monitoring was conducted and reasonably suggest a decision-making algorithm to reduce the negative impact of this factors as an element of the OSH management system. Findings: An algorithm has been developed t… Show more

“…A study presenting the measurement of harmful and hazardous factor values of noise, air dust in the production environment, vibration, and humidity in the workplace in glass product manufacturing was shown in [18]. A set of data collected from sensors was used as an input for an algorithm for substantiating managerial decisions to minimize the negative impact of workplace physical factors.…”

“…It is becoming evident that the vapours emitted by the exhaust gases of cars, with their pungent smell of gas or steam, are the cause of a high percentage of accidental poisoning with toxic gases (Rouleau et al, 2013;Cobb & Etzel, 1991). Consequently, the working conditions of this category of workers require continuous monitoring, similar to research (Kruzhilko et al, 2020).…”

“…These days are accompanied by significant changes in the socio-economic organization of public life, which contribute to the formation of the market and market relations, rapid industrial progress 1,2 and the emergence of new risks in the workplace. 3 The transition to the active implementation of a risk-based approach is defined by the Concept of reforming the labor protection management system (OSMS) in Ukraine. The construction of such systems, the phased introduction of which will ensure that occupational risk is taken into account when planning preventive measures, provides for a set of theoretical and experimental studies aimed at scientific substantiation of the identification of hazards existing in production and the assessment of occupational risks.…”
