Controlled inhalation improves central and peripheral deposition in cystic fibrosis patients with moderate lung disease

Abstract: Aim With progressive impairment of lung function, deposition of inhaled drug in the lungs becomes progressively more central, limiting its effectiveness. This pilot study explored the possibility that long slow inhalations might improve delivery of aerosol to the lung periphery in cystic fibrosis patients with moderate lung disease.
