Convergence and Differentials in State Investment Patterns

Abstract: One issue that has confronted regional analysists is whether regional growth patterns are equilibrating or disequilibrating. This paper focuses on the equilibrium-disequilibrium issue by examining differentials in state manufacturing investment patterns. Two questions about these differentials were asked. Have state capital-labor ratios converged or diverged? What are the determinants of interstate differentials in manufacturing investment.
