Conversion efficiency in the process of copolarized spontaneous four-wave mixing

Abstract: We study the process of co-polarized spontaneous four-wave mixing in single-mode optical fibers, with an emphasis on an analysis of the conversion efficiency. We consider both the monochromaticpumps and pulsed-pumps regimes, as well as both the degenerate-pumps and non-degenerate-pumps configurations. We present analytical expressions for the conversion efficiency, which are given in terms of double integrals. In the case of pulsed pumps we take these expressions to closed analytical form with the help of cert… Show more

“…The state which describes the signal(s) and idler(i) state produced by SFWM is given by |Ψ = |0 s |0 i + ζ|Ψ 2 , in terms of the vacuum |0 s |0 i and the two-photon state |Ψ 2 , where ζ is a constant related to the conversion efficiency. We have shown previously that |Ψ 2 is given by [6,36] …”

“…The observed behavior for TOSDPC is different from that observed for the SFWM process, for which the emitted flux is linear in σ [22]. This means that shorter pump pulses do not lead to higher rates of emission for TOSPDC, as is the case for SFWM.…”
