Cooperative and integrated workflow and document management for engineering applications

Abstract: Engineering workflow management has to cope with a great variety of processes. Well-structured and a priori defined activities are mixed with creative, less-structured, and continuously evolving process steps. The classical coordination support provided by workflow management systems has to be enhanced to cope with dynamic, product-centered, and cooperative processes. In this paper, we concentrate on cooperation support within workflow management on both document level and workflow level. First, we propose an … Show more

“…In the proposed system, a document's content is saved in a database, despite the existing conventional co-authoring platforms, which increased the efficiency of data retrieval. Joeris et al [27] also proposed another application of synchronous collaboration, which supports the engineering domain. The work done in [28] allows its users to write mathematical expressions collaboratively.…”

“…Unlike of other conventional co-authoring platform, they used database to save the content of the document. One of another application of synchronous collaboration is explained by Joeris et al [11], who used this technology to support engineering domain. [16] is a collaborative writing platform for writing mathematical expressions.…”

“…For flexible control and data flow modeling, Joeris introduced an approach to support cooperation on the workflow level which takes versioning and different forms of data interchange between activities into account [16]. They concentrate on both document level and workflow level within a comprehensive process management system.…”
