Cooperative non‐orthogonal multiple access with SWIPT over Nakagami‐m fading channels

Abstract: To meet with both the energy and spectral efficiency, cooperative non‐orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) (termed as CNOMA) and simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) are integrated in this paper. Two different protocols such as CNOMA‐SWIPT‐PS and CNOMA‐SWIPT‐TS are proposed, by employing power‐splitting (PS) and time‐switching (TS) energy harvesting (EH) techniques, respectively. In the proposed protocols, a base station (BS) directly communicates with a NOMA near user, whereas the communi… Show more

“…In order to compare the performance of UCD‐NOMA with a conventional approach, an OMA scheme (UCD‐OMA) regarding the time division multiple access is considered as a benchmark. In UCD‐OMA, four time slots (two time slots for individual user's data transmission by UE 1 and UE 2 ; two more time slots for Re to transmit two different users data) are needed to accomplish the data transmission . Therefore, the E‐SC of UCD‐OMA scheme is expressed as alignleftalign-1RSumOMAalign-2=14log21+minρ|h1r|2,ρ|h1b|2+ρ|hrb|2align-1align-2+14log21+minρ|h2r|2,ρ|h2b|2+ρ|hrb|2align-1align-2=14log21+minγ4,OUE1,γMRC,OUE1+14log21+minγ3,OUE2,γMRC,normalOUE2, where …”

“…The SWIPT technique also allows users to simultaneously perform wireless information transmission (WIT) and WPT 13 . Some studies have been used SWIPT techniques in a variety of structures such as point‐to‐point channels, 14,15 relay‐based systems, 16,17 multiuser orthogonal frequency division multiple (OFDM) systems, 18‐20 multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) channels, 21,22 opportunistic channels, 23 and cooperative systems 24‐26 …”

“…Closed-form and closed-form approximate expressions of outage probability were achieved. In [17], two protocols based on SWIPT, namely CNOMA-SWIPT-PS and CNOMA-SWIPT-TS, were proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed schemes was demonstrated over OMA and the work of [18].…”
