Coordinated Development between Urban Tourism Economy and Transport in the Pearl River Delta, China

Abstract: Abstract:By selecting the panel data from 2005 to 2014 of 9 cities in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) in China, this paper respectively establishes the evaluation index system of tourism economy and transport. It also applies a synthetic evaluation model and coupling coordination model to estimate comprehensive indices of tourism economy and transport system and their coordinated relationships. The results show that: (1) during 2005-2014, the synthetic indices of tourism economy generally presented constantly upwa… Show more

“…In this study, the coupling coordination system is composed of 2 subsystems (tourism subsystem and air environment subsystem), and they evolve each other or restrict each other coordinately. Coupling refers to the motion of the system where the subsystems interact with each other, and coordination refers to the relationship of subsystems which work together harmoniously [65]; the CCD represents the coupling coordination interactions of the subsystems [40].…”

“…In particular, central Jilin, the northern part of Heilongjiang and the Tianshan Mountains in Urumqi, which are regions with abundant resources for ice-snow tourism, are considered suitable for industry development. Economic development in these regions is stable, which is in compliance with the national development strategy, and the ice-snow tourism industry has a high potential for development [31,32]. …”

“…Due to the influence degree and time delay, indirect benefits such as the fuel cost and passenger comfort can be considered in future research instead of in this study. In this benefit-oriented model of highway network optimization, the socioeconomic benefits constitute a positive index [38]. We utilize the following equation:…”
