This paper deals with an optimal energy procurement strategy in a DC microgrid. The DC microgrid comprises renewable sources, storage systems, and demand response participators, who are players in the electricity market. The DC microgrid operator considers bids from all the market players and pursues an optimal energy procurement scheme for the DCMG. The objective is to maximize the financial benefit. Uncertainties of electrical load demand, renewable generation, and energy price of grid is incorporated through Hong's point estimate. A nested optimization problem is solved to realize the desired objective. Discrete dynamic programming is used to solve the problem of storage scheduling and optimal demand response participation. The procurement from renewable sources is determined using the particle swarm optimization method. Simulation studies on a six-bus DC microgrid test system reveal that the daily expected profit can be increased by ~31.62% using the proposed energy management scheme.

The modeling of battery energy storage systems (BESS) remains poorly researched, especially in the case of taking into account the power loss due to degradation that occurs during operation in the power system with a large penetration of generation from renewables and stochastic load from electric vehicles (EV). Meanwhile, the lifetime varies considerably from the manufacturer’s claim due to different operating conditions, and also depends on the level of renewable energy sources (RES) penetration, cyclic operation, temperature, discharge/charge rate, and depth of discharge. Choosing a simplistic approach to the degradation model can lead to unreliable conclusions in choosing the best management strategy and significant investment and operating costs. Most existing BESS models in stationary applications either assume zero degradation costs for storage or simplify battery life to a linear function of depth of discharge (DOD), which can lead to additional error in estimating the cost of BESS degradation. The complexity of constructing a lifetime model of BESS is due to the presence of nonlinear degradation of BESS at the beginning and at the end of the lifetime, as well as the difficulty in obtaining a large amount of experimental data that are close to the real-world operating conditions for the construction of most models. This article analyzes the features of BESS that are specific to their operation in microgrids in terms of the influence of the main stress factors on the degree of BESS degradation. This study also provides a review of existing models for assessing battery degradation.

As an important means of carbon reduction, the application scale of new energy power generation is gradually expanding. With the diversity of new energy access to grid, many wind or photovoltaic converters have directly encountered issues such as circulating current or resonance, so the operational characteristics and methods for new energy nearby connected converters are crucial for the safe and stable operation of enterprise power grids. Firstly, the current research achievements and main technical characteristics were introduced; Secondly, topology design and architecture are explained, then centralized complementary architecture principles are presented based on independent port constraints; Thirdly, energy release stability control based on active protection and system regulation strategy and constraints are studied. Finally, the conclusion summarizes the main research content, the line parameters in the application of nearby connected converters is the main performance influencing factors.
