Copper-catalyzed dehydrogenative cyclization/alkenylation towards dihydroquinolinones

An efficient and environmentally friendly one‐pot sequential synthesis of functionalized nordazepam and a benzimidazoquinazoline analogue is reported, utilizing cobalt as the metal catalyst. The reaction proceeds via either the α‐alkenylation or dehydrogenative sp3 C‐H functionalization pathway. This transformation includes mild reaction conditions, operational simplicity, and good functional group tolerance. Additionally, this method is suitable for the gram‐scale synthesis of functionalized nordazepam and benzimidazoquinazoline compounds. Furthermore, the synthetic utility, photophysical properties and real‐life application of the synthesized derivatives were explored.

An efficient, ligand‐free, and Zn‐catalyzed dehydrogenation of acridinol/ cyclization of imine product/ dehydrogenative C(sp3)‐H functionalization utilizing ChCl‐based deep eutectic solvent system for the assembly of functionalized indoloacridines 9 is reported. The protocol features mild reaction conditions, VOCs free process, broad substrate scope, and applicable gram‐scale synthesis. Furthermore, absorption and solvatochromism properties were explored for the synthesized compounds.

Alkylated Quinolines through Benzylic sp³ C−H Functionalization: Sequential Synthesis and Photophysical Studies

An efficient method has been developed for the green synthesis of alkylated quinolines via Cu‐TEMPO catalyzed dehydrogenation, and DEP/DES‐assisted benzylic C‐H functionalization followed by cross Rauhut‐Currier type reaction. The reaction mechanism is elucidated through control experiments and 1H NMR reaction monitoring. This transformation offers several advantages, including moderate to good yields of the desired products, mild reaction conditions, use of a cost‐effective metal catalyst, good functional group tolerance, and applicability to gram‐scale synthesis. Additionally, the synthetic utility and the photophysical properties of the synthesized alkylated quinoline derivatives were investigated.
