Copper Nanoparticles: A Review on Synthesis, Characterization and Applications

Abstract: An emerging field of science “Nanotechnology” which is involved in manipulation of atoms and molecules has shown great potential in all fields of sciences. Nanotechnology deals with nanoparticles ranging from size 1 to 100 nm in diameter, due to small size and high surface area eventually increases the state of activity. This review focuses on metal and metal oxide nanoparticles and mainly on green synthesis, characterization and application of copper nanoparticles. Green synthesis of copper and copper oxide (… Show more

“…[1][2][3] Particularly, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) have been widely studied and are receiving more attention from many scientists and engineers thanks to their motivating properties and high potential applications in various elds. [4][5][6] In the energy domain for example, CuO NPs have been considered as electrode materials for the next-generation rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, owing to their abundance, environmental compatibility and eco-friendliness, high theoretical capacity, and nontoxicity. 7 Moreover, both morphology and size remarkably affected their physical properties.…”

“…TiO2, ZnO, and ZrO2 nanoparticles act as UV filters and are used in sunscreens, lip balms, and moisturizers (Wawrzynczak et al 2016). Several research papers outline the pros and cons of nanotechnology in cosmetic formulations and describe their various types which impart different characteristics to cosmetic products (Mihranyan et al 2012;Raj et al 2012) (Harishchandra et al 2020). However, due to the small size of these nanoparticles, they can easily enter the bloodstream through skin or via inhalation to be transported to various organs.…”
