Abstract:A corona preionization system for a high repetition gas laser is described. The system has been applied to a 200Hz repetition rate TEA CO2 laser with a 1.5x1.5x40cm3 discharge volume. Because the self inductance of the laser head can be kept at a very low value, short excitation pulses and fast rising discharge voltages are possible. Since the preionizer is incorporated in the main circuit and consumes only a small fraction of the total excitation energy, high overall efficiencies can be obtained.High repetiti… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
