Coronin 2B regulates dendrite outgrowth by modulating actin dynamics

Abstract: Cytoskeletal remodeling is indispensable for the development and maintenance of neuronal structures and functions. However, the molecular machinery that controls the balance between actin polymerization and depolymerization during these processes is incompletely understood. Here, we report that coronin 2B, a conserved actin‐binding protein, is concentrated at the tips of developing dendrites and that knockdown of coronin 2B inhibits the growth of dendrites. Importantly, coronin 2B interacts with actin and redu… Show more

“…Pallium development is strongly correlated with the presence of brain-specific SEs. We identified a brain-specific SE in the CORO2B gene, which is important in neuronal migration in mice, and shows strong brainspecific expression (68,78). Neuronal migration during cortical development is essential for maintaining normal brain function and structure.…”

“…The most significant genes within the haplotype block were located in the intronic regions of the Itga11 gene. Interestingly, Coro2b, which encodes Coronin-2b, a regulator of actin dynamics, and Fem1b, which encodes the death receptor-associated ankyrin repeat protein FEM1b with characterized roles in mediating cell stress [26][27][28][29], are adjacent to Itga11 on mouse chromosome 9. Notably, rs29586321, which is a SNP located in the 5'UTR of Fem1b, was also among the SNPs that were significantly associated with AIPD.…”

“…These data are consistent with our findings of fewer CD3 + T cells and TRM cells in Itga11 −/− mice compared to WT mice following AIPD induction. Because TRM cells likely contribute to site‐specific disease memory in psoriasis and persist in resolved lesions [26], further elucidation of the impact of Itga11 during the chronic phase of the disease warrants more investigation.…”

“…, 2017 ), less information is available on the function of Type II Coronins, including CORO2A and CORO2B. Nevertheless, CORO2B has been implicated in the regulation of actin polymerization to facilitate dendrite outgrowth ( Chen et al. , 2020 ), and CORO2A has been linked to actin regulation and subsequent control of a variety of cellular pathways, from migration to control of inflammatory response genes ( Marshall et al.…”
