Abstract:Iron supplements and/or blood transfusions in combination with recombinant human erythropoietin injections are routinely used to correct renal anemia, which is a common complication of end-stage renal disease. However, massive blood transfusions and inadequate intravenous iron supplementation can lead to iron overload syndrome, and anemia is not always nephrogenic.
