Correlation between cerebellar metabolism and post-stroke depression in patients with ischemic stroke

Abstract: The neurochemical changes that occur in the brain of patients with post-stroke depression (PSD) are not fully understood. This study aims to explore the correlation between cerebellar metabolism changes and PSD using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS). Participants were assigned to 3 groups: 60 patients with PSD (PSD group), 60 stroke patients without depression (NOPSD group), and 60 healthy volunteers (HEAL group). T1 WI, T2 WI, DWI and 1H-MRS examination were performed for patients at 14 days, 3… Show more

“…It mostly receives information from each cerebral lobe cortex, crosses to the opposite side and enters the cerebellum after pontine substitution. This anatomical structure is consistent with the CCD phenomenon observed secondary to supratentorial lesions of various etiologies [ 1 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 ]. However, there has been little discussion of MCP in the study of white matter integrity in stroke [ 28 , 29 ].…”

“…All included studies were categorized based on the duration of RIPostC implementation to enhance the reliability of our data analysis. This categorization included a 3-day group with 3 studies [59-61], a 7-day group comprising 9 studies [29, 35-37, 41, 42, 47, 58, 64], a 10-day group with 3 studies [44][45][46], a 14-day group consisting of 15 studies [4, 28, 31, 40, 48-53, 55-57, 60, 61], a 3-month group with 2 studies [30,38], and a 6-month group encompassing 6 studies [32-34, 39, 43, 54]. Detailed information and characteristics of the studies are listed in Tables 1 and 2.…”

“…Особого внимания в связи с этим заслуживают нейрохимические изменения, которые происходят в церебральной ткани при ПД. Методом протонной магнитно-резонансной спектроскопии было установлено [15], что они существенно отличаются при наличии ПД и без таковой и более того -нейрохимические изменения в этим случаях зависят от тяжести депрессивного состояния.…”
