“…Batch BMP tests were carried out with the mixture of raw or pretreated AWs and SS at mixing ratios of 100:0, 80:20, 60:40, 50:50, 40:60, 20:80 and 0:100 based on the VS content of the wastes. Methane production was measured by the batch BMP tests under mesophilic (35 °C) conditions following the procedures established by Perendeci et al [ 54 ]. Raw or pretreated AWs and SS were placed into a 500 mL BMP reactor with anaerobic seed sludge from a sugar beet factory digester of the anaerobic wastewater treatment plant (Eregli, Turkey).…”

“…The cyanobacterial biomass was isolated from a thermal spring in the city of Denizli, located in the southwest of Turkey. The isolate was identified as D. tharense using 16S rRNA amplification using RT-PCR, DNA sequencing, and blast method using NCBI online blast engine described in the study of Perendeci et al [21].…”

“…The dry weight and chlorophyll content of D. tharense were measured as identified by Taştan et al [22], in duplicates (n = 2). The specific growth rate, maximum productivity (P max ), and CO 2 fixation rate (F) were calculated according to Perendeci et al [21].…”

“…While the whole biomass had more concentration of lipids, the lipid-extracted biomass had a higher concentration of the remaining biomass which could have a significant calorific value. Although lipids has been described as the most efficient compounds for methane production in comparison to carbohydrates and proteins , the methane potential is also determined by the biochemical composition and the structural organization of the biopolymers in the substrate (Bayard et al, 2016, Perendeci et al, 2019. There are bigger differences in methane production between batches than between whole and lipid-extracted biomass, which indicates a higher variation of chemical composition between batches than just by removing part of the lipids.…”
