Abstract:Radio observations have revealed magnetic fields in the intracluster medium (ICM) of galaxy clusters,
and their energy density is nearly
in equipartition with the turbulent kinetic energy.
This suggests magnetic field amplification by dynamo processes during cluster formation. However, observations are limited to redshifts $z 0.7$, and the weakly collisional nature of the ICM complicates studying magnetic field evolution at higher redshifts through theoretical models and simulations. Using a mod… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
