Cosmological model with nonminimal derivative coupling of scalar fields in five dimensions

Abstract: We study a nonminimal derivative coupling (NMDC) of scalar field, where the scalar field is coupled to curvature tensor in the five dimensional universal extra dimension model. We apply the Einstein equation and find its solution. First, we consider a special case of pure free scalar field without NMDC and we find that for static extradimension, the solution is equivalent to the standard cosmology with stiff matter. For a general case of pure free scalar field with NMDC, we find that the de Sitter solution is … Show more

“…Next, as we will show, unlike the braneworld model with Einstein-Hilbert action [21], the Friedmann equation resulting from a model that contains the L 3 will be able to go back to the conventional four dimensional Friedmann equation, even with zero brane tension. Thus we set σ = 0 in our definition of brane matter action (11). In short, we consider the following action…”

“…The Horndeski theory is built up from four Lagrangian (L i , i = 2, 3, 4, 5). By appropriately choosing the parameters in each Lagrangian, well known specific scalar-tensor Lagrangian can be recovered, such as quintessence [7], k-essence [8], nonminimal derivative coupling (NMDC) [9,10,11,12,13], etc. are all contained in Horndeski theory.…”

“…In [12] we assume that in its very early era, our universe consisted of five dimensional spacetime then the four dimensional and one dimensional extra dimension evolved differently. We find a solution for recent universe consisting of expanding four dimensional spacetime with acceleration and shringking extra dimension is exists.…”

“…As given in [12,11], the condition of 2ξ + η = 0 will remove the higher order terms. In this paper, we do choose that condition.…”
