Abstract: Introduction: Group A streptococci (GAS) is responsible of several human diseases ranging from mild infection to severe invasive toxinmediated disease and post-infectious sequelae. Accordingly, a GAS surveillance program based on molecular techniques is advisable for its epidemiological control.
