Abstract:Wet age‐related macular degeneration (AMD) is a common cause of vision loss in the elderly. It is characterised by choroidal neovascularisation (CNV), caused by overexpression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), resulting in abnormal vessel proliferation. Current clinical management predominantly relies on anti‐VEGF agents, which require frequent and costly injections. Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) technology has emerged as a promising strategy for permanently sup… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
