CRISPR-Cas9-Based Technology for Studying Enteric Virus Infection

Abstract: Enteric viruses, including numerous viruses that initiate infection in enteric canal, are recognized as important agents that cause wide spectrum of illnesses in humans, depending on the virus type. They are mainly transmitted by fecal-oral route with several vector such as contaminated water or food. Infections by enteric viruses, such as noroviruses and rotaviruses, frequently cause widespread acute gastroenteritis, leading to significant health and economic burdens and therefore remain a public health conce… Show more

“…6). The aim of this study was to construct a zebrafish model of LAMA2 muscular dystrophy and to reveal its underlying molecular mechanism through muscular transcriptomics studies [29][30][31][32] . Through the analysis and discussion of the experimental results, we can deeply understand the characteristics of muscle development and function abnormalities in the LAMA2 model, further elucidate the pathophysiological process of the disease, and provide new clues for the development of therapeutic strategies [33][34][35][36] .…”

“…Notably, proteinaceous receptors of animal viruses related to human noroviruses have been identified, e.g., CD300lf for murine norovirus ( 45 ). Furthermore, it is now possible to infect human cell models with norovirus, allowing more elaborate screening approaches to identify receptor candidates, e.g., genome-wide CRISPR screens ( 46 , 47 ). Identifying the receptor for human norovirus will enhance the identification and development of potential correlates of protection.…”

“…Viral Disease Research: CRISPR/Cas9 delivered by viruses has been instrumental in understanding viral pathogenesis and hostvirus interactions. Researchers have used this technology to disrupt viral genes and study their role in viral replication and virulence (Hirano et al, 2022) [49] . Drug Discovery: CRISPR/Cas9 delivered via viral vectors has been utilized to investigate the function of specific genes in various biological processes.…”
