Cross-blockchain protocol for public registries

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a concept of the protocol for public registries based on blockchain. New database protocol aims to use the benefits of blockchain technologies and ensure their interoperability. Design/methodology/approach This paper is framed with design science research (DSR). The primary method is exaptation, i.e. adoption of solutions from other fields. The research is looking into existing technologies which are applied here as elements of the protocol: Name-Value Storage … Show more

“…The land administration category contains blockchain-based applications that specify a link to the land and title registration systems. The proposed blockchain applications in the land administration category mainly consist of technical concepts (Spielman, 2020;Soner et al, 2021;Ali et al, 2020;Thakur et al, 2020;Konashevych, 2020a;Mendi et al, 2020). The transaction category refers to commercial and residential real estate sales where the participants may be professional or retail investors or consumers.…”

“…In fact, it is used to store the list of records, such as user identities, assets, transactions, or other types of data, which are verified and recorded in a tamper-proof and immutable manner using cryptography and consensus algorithms. Storing and managing this data is maintained automatically based on the blockchain's internal mechanisms (5). To verify this data, the user needs access to that closed database or trusts the entity that stores it (5).…”

“…Cross-blockchain protocols are an active area of research that tries to provide certain guarantees when moving value/data between blockchains networks [41]. Several protocols have been proposed over the past few years, such as hash time locks, cryptographic proofs -rollups [42], Proof-of-Burn [43]- [45] and signature-based protocols [46].…”
