Crossover between special and ordinary transitions in random semi-infinite Ising-like systems

Abstract: We investigate the crossover behavior between special and ordinary surface transitions in threedimensional semi-infinite Ising-like systems with random quenched bulk disorder. We calculate the surface crossover critical exponent Φ, the critical exponents of the layer, α1, and local specific heats, α11, by applying the field theoretic approach directly in three spatial dimensions (d = 3) up to the two-loop approximation. The numerical estimates of the resulting two-loop series expansions for the surface critica… Show more

“…The surface critical behaviour of the three-dimensional Ising model with quenched bulk disorder has been investigated both at the ordinary [263,264] and at the special transition point [263,265], using different renormalization group techniques. The crossover behaviour between these two transitions was studied recently in [266]. Interestingly, modified surface critical behaviour is encountered independently whether quenched surface disorder is present or not.…”

“…(3.17 The asymptotic scaling critical behavior of the correlation functions near the multicritical point can be obtained through a detailed analysis of the CS equations, as was proposed in [49,52] and employed in the case of the semi-infinite systems in [26,37,51,53,54]. Using the above mentioned scheme, the asymptotic scaling form of the surface correlation functions for long-flexible polymer chains with one end fixed at the surface and the other end located somewhere in the layer z above the surface can be written as…”

“…should be calculated at the infrared-stable 'pure' fixed point. The asymptotic scaling critical behaviour of the correlation functions can be obtained through a detailed analysis of the CS equations, as was proposed in [26,27] and employed in the case of the semi-infinite systems in [21,30], [33]- [35]. Integration of equations for β(v), η(v), η sp 1 (v) and η c(v) gives the asymptotic dependences…”
