Crown‐rump length audit plots with the use of operator‐specific PAPP‐A and β‐hCG median MoM

Abstract: In sonologists with more than 100 NT measurements, operator-specific PAPP-A and β-hCG median MoM plots are able to identify deviations potentially related to a systematic CRL bias. Systematic underestimation above 2 mm was observed in 1/5 of them. © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

“…Numerous studies have quantified measurement error variability in CRL in terms of limits of agreement, SDs of differences between operators, variance components and interclass correlation coefficients 13,14,21 . Results have been presented for intraobserver variation between measurements taken by the same sonographer and for interobserver variation between measurements taken by different sonographers.…”

“…Mathematical models [40,41] are implemented, and surveillance and prevention models will be offered. As will be further described in the methodology -the larger the risk, the earlier will be the GA at delivery, adding to the increase burden of prematurity [42][43][44][45][46][47][48][49][50].…”

“…Large-scale quantitative evaluation of CRL measurement quality based on the distribution of data is less challenging, with the drawback that reference biometric data are not available for comparative analyses, as it is the case of NT. Some authors have proposed to use specific deviations of biochemical markers (PAPP-A and βhCG), which are the result of systematic CRL measurement bias [20].…”
