Cryptococcal arthritis in an immunocompetent migrant

Abstract: Cryptococcosis is a rare infection in immunocompetent patients. While the lungs and the central nervous system are most often involved, skeletal cryptococcosis is uncommon. We report a case of isolated osteoarthritis of the ankle due to Cryptococcus neoformans in a 24-year-old immunocompetent patient, who underwent surgical and medical treatment with total recovery at 6 months.
