Cryptococcus magnus Periprosthetic Shoulder Infection

Abstract: Case: We present a 68-year-old diabetic man with a periprosthetic shoulder infection (PSI) by Cryptococcus magnus. The fungus was identified 4 weeks after a revision surgery for a chronic bacterial PSI. Treatment was successful with a 2-week course of intravenous liposomal amphotericin B (5 mg/kg) followed by 6 weeks of fluconazole (200 mg/d).
