Crystal and morphology development in immiscible nonpolar polymer blend nanocomposite based on low‐density polyethylene and linear low‐density polyethylene in presence of clay and compatibilizer

Abstract: In this work, polyolefin-blend/clay nanocomposites based on low-density polyethylene (LDPE), linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), and organically modified clay (OC) were prepared by melt extrusion. Various grades of maleic anhydride (MA) grafted polyethylene (PE-g-MA) were used and examined as compatibilizers in these nanocomposites. Differential scanning calorimetry analysis showed that OC and compatibilizer affect the crystallization behavior of LDPE/LLDPE with different mechanisms. Thermodynamic calcula… Show more

“…Moreover, maleic anhydride molecules can be easily hydrolysed to produce active carboxyl groups, which can undergo physical or chemical reactions with hydroxyl, amino, and other groups. Khederlou et al [ 6 ] prepared polyolefin blends/clay nanocomposites with maleic anhydride (MA) grafted polyethylene (PE‐g‐MA) as compatibilizer. The results show that the compatibilizer can lead to the structural change of the polymer crystal morphology, which affects the tensile properties of the composites.…”

“…These applications span from food packaging, communication technology, electromagnetic interference shielding, storage media, and optoelectronic devices. 5,7,8 Cesium bromide is particularly noteworthy among metal halides, attracting significant interest. This is attributed to their essential properties, which encompass non-toxicity, a substantial reactive surface, and catalytic capabilities.…”

“…20 Moreover, the addition of a small amount of clay in the presence of a compatibilizer can further improve the welldispersion of clay in the PETPs matrix due to the enhancement of the interfacial interaction between PETPs and clay. 21,22 In this study, EVA/HDPE/ATH/clay composites were prepared via melt mixing followed by electron beam irradiation (EBI). When compared to other crosslinking methods, the EBI-induced crosslinking stands out due to its unique features.…”
