Current‐input current‐output analog half center oscillator and central pattern generator circuits with memristors

Abstract: Summary The comparison of the memristor to the biological synapse has motivated the introduction of memristors to biomimetic circuits such as Central Pattern Generators (CPGs) and Half Center Oscillators (HCOs). The effects of the utilization of memristors in such systems have been investigated in this work. The HCO is a neural oscillator, and the CPG is made up of 4 HCOs producing oscillations corresponding to the locomotion of a 4‐limbed animal. Analog HCO and CPG circuits have been simulated using the Caden… Show more

“…[9], coupling four of these HCO blocks to one another make up a Central pattern Generator (CPG) which mimics rhythmic activity of a four-legged animal such as walking, running. Two distinct topologies of these circuits have been shown to exhibit variation in amplitude and rhythmic variation as well as cyclic stability when they employ memristors [10]. This paper aims to show the development of models of our own fabricated memristors and these memristors being used in the HCO circuit.…”

“…This is a nonlinear differential equation model of a bio-inspired system with a continuous time and continuous states (CTCS). A class CTCS bio-inspired model can be generally implemented in an analog nonlinear circuit, e.g., [10][11][12][13][14][15][16].…”
