“…In order to get more insight into carnitine metabolism and synthesis, a sensitive analysis for the determination of the concentrations of free carnitine, carnitine esters and the carnitine precursors trimethyllysine and ␥-butyrobetaine is required. Currently, carnitine is mostly analyzed by LC-MS/MS methods [3][4][5][6][7][8]. The use of multi-reaction mode (MRM) transitions for detection allows the determination of underivatized carnitine and acylcarnitines with sufficient sensitivity [6].…”

“…This is particularly relevant because ovarian cancer is the seventh most common cancer in women worldwide and causes more deaths than any other gynecologic malignancy, being diagnosed mostly at an advanced stage 21 22 . There are several analytical methods to determine CRT in several samples, suitably reviewed 23 24 25 . Few of these methods offer portability features and the ones nearing it do not combine disposable supports with stable biorecognition materials, which are essential conditions to promote worldwide POC applications in early screening of ovarian cancer.…”

“…Compared with the normal rats, the levels of several glucose metabolism intermediates (such as isocitric acid and glucose) were elevated in the samples collected from THBSS rats at 2 h, 5 h, 8 h and 12 h and reduced at 24 h, 36 h and 48 h. The levels of 3-dehydroxycarnitine related to b-oxidation of long-chain fatty acids down-regulated in the samples collected at 2 h, 5 h, 8 h and 12 h and up-regulated at 24 h, 36 h and 48 h. These changes indicate excessive energy consumption in the excessive heat and little blood stasis stage and the blockade of the energy metabolism. 19 The levels of N-acetylglutamine and N-a-acetylcitrulline, which are associated with nervous system functions, were elevated in the samples collected at 2 h, 5 h, 8 h and 12 h and reduced at 24 h, 36 h and 48 h, suggesting that the nervous system is disturbed in THBSS. 20,21 The levels of iduronic acid and homocysteine sulnic acid, which can affect coagulation function, were altered, demonstrating the dysfunction of coagulation during THBSS progression.…”
