Current nanotechnology advances in diagnostic biosensors

Abstract: Rapid, reliable and easy access diagnostics can significantly improve early detection and treatment monitoring of high mortality diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, among others (Rebelo et al., 2019). The successfully diagnostics of a disease, even prior to the manifestation of any symptom, can be crucial to efficacious treatment and survival rate (Chamorro-Garcia & Merkoçi, 2016).Biomarkers are frequently used to diagnose these diseases; however, they need to be quantified in a specif… Show more

“…Nanoparticles have a great volume-to-surface relationship compared to higher elements, so it is important to assess and monitor their surface characteristics accurately ( 28 ). A ZP analyzer can determine the surface charge, also known as zeta potential (ZP).…”

“…This selective detection is helpful for applications like gas sensing, where different gases have distinct infrared absorption spectra. 43,44 Integrating three-dimensional (3D) printing and additive manufacturing techniques could revolutionize the fabrication of NEMS/MEMS-based sensors. This could allow for more complex and customized sensor designs, while reducing production costs.…”

“…It is imperative to incorporate biosensor components into a device that can load samples and reagents simultaneously and detect signals in an automated format called lab-on-a-chip (LOC) [13]. In an effort to nd new paths for improving diagnosis and treatment, this study explores the relationship between sensor research, technology, and a number of high-mortality malignancies (including colorectal, prostate, breast, and lung cancers).…”
