Current Status and Prospects of Korean Studies Education in China

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review the current status of Korean studies education and research in China and to seek the direction of development of Korean studies education and research in China. Although Korea and China are geographically close, the discussion began in that it is necessary to examine the problems and the direction of continuous development of Korean studies in China at a time when research and education related to Korean studies in China are shrinking due to recent problems. This paper first reviewed the opening status of Korean language departments in China, and then examined the opening status of graduate schools related to Korean studies and the establishment status of research institutes related to Korean studies. Through various considerations related to Korean studies, it has pointed out the problems that have emerged in the development process of Korean studies in China so far.
