Current Trends in the Application of EEG in Neuromarketing: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract: Despite several neuroscience tools existing, electroencephalography (EEG) is the most used and favoured tool among researchers because of its relatively low cost and high temporal resolution. Our study aimed to identify the global academic research trends of the empirical EEG studies in neuromarketing. This paper adopted the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol to identify relevant articles. A bibliometric analysis software (VOSviewer) was used to evaluate thirty… Show more

“…The current study is designed to extract documents from the Scopus database to answer the research questions. Because Scopus database is the largest database of abstract and citation, which covers a broad range of themes, as well it is covering more themes that might not available in the Web of Science (WOS) (Alsharif et al, 2020a;Khudzari et al, 2018).…”

“…The keywords occurrences are expressed in a numerical method in bibliometric analysis (Wang, M. & Chai, 2018) to investigate keywords, which provide a coherent interpretation of the articles' content (Alsharif et al, 2020a;Alsharif et al, 2021c;Comerio & Strozzi, 2019), meanwhile, the correlation between a couple of keywords is also expressed in a numerical value, which refers to link strength between these two keywords; a higher numerical value means a stronger link (Ravikumar et al, 2015). The link strength between two keywords represents the number of appearances of both these keywords in the same article.…”

“…in a certain domain or subject. In this analysis, the first step is front process and refinement of data (Moral-Muñoz et al, 2019; Alsharif et al, 2020). Bibliometric analysis makes contribution to studies with large-size data to refine, interpretation, exploration of intellectual structure within the specific boundary of a domain or subject in the literature, deciphering nuance of subjects upon which publications made intensively and mapping of data.…”

“…When examples of general bibliometric analysis are examined, it is seen that the analysis is used very different areas of research such as neuromarketing (Alsharif et al, 2020), human mobility behavior (Benita, 2021), assisted migration (Benomar et al, 2022) and hospitality management (Köseoglu et al 2015). Another study using bibliometric analysis is the study conducted by Erturgut and Altınkurt (2021), examining academic studies on air logistics from Web of Science (WOS), Scopus and EBSCO databases.…”
