Abstract: Systemic sclerosis (SSc), also known as scleroderma, is a systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease characterized by dysregulation of the immune system, fibrosis of the skin and visceral organs, and vasculopathy. Inflammatory activation may be important in the initiation and progression of vasculopathy and fibrosis in response to homeostatic disturbance.
