Cyclodextrin‐modified capillary electrophoresis for achiral and chiral separation of ergostane and lanostane compounds extracted from the fruiting body of Antrodia camphorata

Abstract: A CD-modified capillary electrophoretic method has been developed for achiral and chiral analysis of seven bioactive compounds isolated from the fruiting body of Antrodia camphorata. Such important target analytes exhibit similar chemical structures and are known for their diverse properties including antioxidant and anticancer effects. The analytes were separated in 25 min using a pH 9.3, 20 mM sodium borate buffer containing 20 mM methyl-b-CD and 30 mM sulfobutylether-b-CD. With the exception of the optical … Show more

“…Thus, the combined, synergistic effects of a mixture of active components that are present in A. camphorata on biological activities need to be thoroughly assessed. Finally, though we recently developed a cyclodextrin-modified capillary electrophoresis method for the separation and analysis of achiral and chiral triterpenoids from fruiting bodies of A. camphorata [110], there however, is a need to establish suitable quality parameters and analytical methods to determine active compounds.…”

“…Taking the data from the HPLC and GPC analyses together, we categorized AC-PS as one group with abundant polysaccharides and AC-FB (or AC-SS) as another group with abundant triterpenoids and unidentified constituents. 31,32) In view of the different constituents of AC-PS and AC-FB (and AC-SS) a discrepancy in their antiproliferation effects plausible. This further suggests that AC-FB and AC-SS elicit different immunomodulatory responses from the macrophages than AC-PS.…”

“…A large number of CE‐UV analysis have been performed in pharmaceutical and herbal product applications 165–195. Most of these were applied for the separation of bioactive diterpenoids, triterpenes, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds.…”
