Cytoplasmic divisions without nuclei

Abstract: Cytoplasmic divisions have been commonly considered a sequel to nuclear divisions, even in the absence of DNA replication. Here we found in fruit fly embryos that the cytoplasm can compartmentalize and divide without nuclei.
