Cytotoxic Activity and DNA-Binding Properties of Isoeuxanthone Derivatives

Abstract: In this study, the interactions of different groups substituted isoeuxanthone derivatives with calf thymus DNA (ct DNA) were investigated by spectrophotometric methods and viscosity measurements. Results indicated that the xanthone derivatives could intercalate into the DNA base pairs by the plane of xanthone ring and the various substituents may influence the binding affinity with DNA according to the calculated quenching constant values. Furthermore, two tumor cell lines including the human cervical cancer c… Show more

“…Amongst these inhibitors are xanthones, which are plant-derived natural products with anti-tumor properties [76]. Semisynthetic and completely synthetic analogs of xanthones have also been studied as antitumor agents [77]. They have different levels of affinity and potency towards PKC isoforms.…”

“…Spectrophotometric titration as one of them correlates with the way in which these molecules interact with DNA, whereby the insertion of small molecules into adjacent base pairs provides a number of ways in which intercalation and groove binding play a key role. 2,3 This study was undertaken to explore the molecular mechanisms of interaction of xanthene derivatives with CT-DNA.…”

“…This method needs to solve large-scale matrix equations, sometimes they are not properly solved. So we use the BP network to fuse the information of the pressure sensors, that not only overcomes above difficulties, but also improve the calculation accuracy and credibility [3,4].…”
