“…It was shown that the Ag NP-loaded cotton 12 (cotton-SCF 3 -Ag) had much better antibacterial activity than the Ag NP-loaded cotton 11 (cotton-NH 2 -Ag), consistent with a higher level of silver nanoparticles in the Ag NP-loaded cotton 12 (cotton-SCF 3 -Ag), which was in accordance with the data of XPS, EDX, and TGA. It suggested that the Ag NP-loaded cottons 11 (cotton-NH 2 -Ag) and 12 (cotton-SCF 3 -Ag) would expand application of these antibacterial materials, and this method could supplement other antiseptic treatments. It was noteworthy that the Ag NP-loaded cotton 10 (cotton–-OH-Ag) prepared by physical absorption showed poor antibacterial activity under the designated conditions. The main reason probably lays in the washing procedure.…”

“…While chitosan-capped AgNPs were also found as both antibacterial and antifungal when treated against E. coli and P. guilliermondii (Roy et al 2014), there are also several synergistic applications of AgNPs and antibiotics with satisfactory outcomes. Surface modification of AgNPs with amoxicillin (Kirthi et al 2019), cephradine (Masri et al 2018), streptomycin (Kora and Rastogi 2013), ampicillin (Tippayawat et al 2017), vancomycin and amikacin (Kaur and Kumar 2019) has reflected better efficacy than separate use of antibiotics or AgNPs against bacterial pathogens, viz. S. aureus, C. albicans, Acinetobacter baumannii, Enterococcus faecalis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and E. coli, respectively.…”
