Abstract:The equivalent linearization method (ELM) is often used to estimate the maximum displacement of isolated structures. Damping-dependent coefficients (CD) which are a scale multiplier required to give simplified elastic acceleration design spectra (EADS) for greater damping values are proposed. The CD is obtained from the relationship between nonlinear time history analysis (NTHA) and ELM using the standard waves from various ground types and different types of earthquakes. The proposed CD is compared to the pre… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
