Dark matter bound state formation in fermionic Z2 DM model with light dark photon and dark Higgs boson

Abstract: If fermionic dark matter (DM) is stabilized by dark U(1) gauge symmetry that is spontaneously broken into its subgroup Z2, the particle contents of the model becomes very rich: DM and excited DM, both of them are Majorana fermions, as well as two dark force mediators, dark photon and dark Higgs boson are naturally present due to the underlying dark gauge symmetry. In this paper, we study the DM bound state formation processes within this scenario, assuming both dark photon and dark Higgs are light mediators an… Show more

“…They form at low velocities via the radiative emission of a dark Higgs due to the attractive Yukawa potential induced by h : α f e −m h r /r (see e.g. [41]). As explained below, in this work we will focus on parameter regions where such a process is kinematically closed when χ 1 is non-relativistic.…”

“…These results build on the work of ref. [1] that showed the importance of bound-state formation via emission of a scalar charged under a symmetry (see also [47]), as well as the work of refs. [2,3] that demonstrated the long-range effect of the Higgs boson between TeV-scale particles.…”

“…[28]. Here we simply note that, by virtue of the Goldstone boson equivalence theorem, BSF via Higgs-doublet emission remains important in the broken electroweak phase, where it occurs via emission of the Higgs boson and the longitudinal components of the Weak gauge bosons [47].…”
